Infinity Pools: What It Really Takes to Build One

The engineering behind the illusion – weirs, catch basins and why precision matters.

The illusion

An infinity pool appears to merge with the horizon because water flows over a perfectly level edge into a hidden catch basin below.

Engineering the edge

The weir must be level within 1–2 mm across its full length. We use precision levelling and specialised edge tiles.

The catch basin & balancing tank

Overflowing water collects in a basin and is pumped back. Correct sizing prevents overflow when swimmers enter.

Best sites

Sloped plots, hillsides, rooftops and sea-facing villas. In Pune, the hills of Sinhagad, Lonavala and Mulshi are ideal.
